Carbon offset service launched
It seems you can't pick up a newspaper or switch on the TV at the moment without hearing the term 'carbon neutral'. As the term becomes more widespread and captures the interest of the public, more and more companies are realising that it should be a core part of their corporate responsibility efforts.
The events industry by its very nature has a heavy impact on the environment. Products such as promotional merchandise are bought in bulk for one-off use, to be thrown away if they're not all given away. Carpet is disposed of by the truckful after being used once. Brochures find their way into skips without ever being opened. And on top of that, the events industry requires millions of people every year to get in their cars and drive.
Dataflow Events wants to help straighten the record for our industry, which is why we've teamed up with the Carbon Neutral Company to help clients meet their corporate responsibility commitments. We're launching a free of charge service to calculate the carbon impact of our clients' events, including calculating the total mileage of those attending the event based on any address data that is collected as part of the registration process.
By knowing the carbon impact of the event, clients can partake in carbon offset initiatives run by the Carbon Neutral Company, and will gain permission to use the Carbon Neutral trademark (shown above) as part of event correspondence or at the event itself.
The Carbon Neutral Company can also advise on reducing the carbon emissions which your event generates.
